The Ninth
Bishop of Birmingham, the Rt Revd David Urquhart, was inaugurated as the Ninth Bishop of
Birmingham on November 17th 2006.
Bishop David went to Birmingham from Birkenhead where he was a Suffragan Bishop in the Diocese of Chester. Before going to Birkenhead in October 2000 he was Vicar of Holy Trinity Church in Coventry City Centre. Before being ordained, Bishop David spent 10 years in commercial management, working for BP.
Through his work and ministry he has travelled widely and was chairman of the trustees of the Church Mission Society until November 2007. He is also the Archbishop of Canterbury's link with China.
